Sharjah 24: Reigning champions Al-Fuheis Club of Jordan will start their basketball title defence Monday at 2:00 pm against Kuwait’s Al-Fatat Club, as the basketball competition begins at the eighth edition of the Arab Women Sports Tournament (AWST 2026).

AWST 2026 held under Sharjah patronage

Held across Sharjah under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Arab Women Sports Tournament is organised by Sharjah Women’s Sports and runs until 12 February, featuring 65 teams from 16 Arab countries.

Basketball matches at Al Bataeh Club

Basketball games are taking place at Al Bataeh Cultural and Sports Club as part of nine sports in the tournament.

Technical meeting and draw confirm schedule

The technical meeting and official draw for the basketball competition were held at Sharjah Women’s Sports headquarters, attended by key officials including Her Excellency Sheikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa and His Excellency Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Anzi, among others. The meeting approved the preliminary competition schedule, which will follow a single round-robin league format.

Daily match schedule

Three matches will be played daily, starting at 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm, and 4:00 pm. Opening-day fixtures include Iraq’s Ghaz Al Shamal Club vs Bahrain’s Al Hala Club, followed by Al-Fuheis vs Al-Fatat, and concluding with UAE’s Khorfakkan Club vs Sharjah Women’s Sports Club.
