The ceremony took place at Al Suyouh Family Park, with strong public attendance reflecting the importance and prestige of the award and its success across the Emirate. The total prize value amounted to AED 1.7 million.
The awards ceremony was attended by Sultan bin Humaidan Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Department of Municipal Affairs, as well as heads of Sharjah’s municipal councils, directors-general and municipal directors of the Emirate, and a host of officials and representatives of government bodies supporting the event. Also present were managers from Sharjah Municipality, members of municipal councils, supporting sponsors, influencers promoting the award since its inception, and participants from across the Emirate.
Obaid Saeed Al Teneiji, Director-General of Sharjah Municipality, emphasised that this year’s edition was exceptional, reaching a peak with the participation of all nine cities of Sharjah. This successful expansion aims to engage the community in gardening efforts, promote green spaces, ensure sustainability, and preserve nature by nurturing and continuously developing home gardens.
He noted that investing in a variety of plants, trees, and flowers enhances the aesthetic dimension of homes, creates an environment of comfort and happiness for owners, and reinforces the Emirate’s overall civilised and attractive appearance.
Al Teneiji highlighted that the award reinforces the role of Sharjah’s municipalities, under the umbrella of the Department of Municipal Affairs, in encouraging citizens to engage in decorative gardening and expand green areas. The municipalities act in accordance with the visions and directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah to continue supporting gardening and the community in this domain.
The award aims to achieve these goals by involving the community in agricultural activities, celebrating creativity in garden design, enhancing competition and innovation among participants, and encouraging the use of modern scientific and technical methods in irrigation and planting. It also promotes water conservation, diverse shading methods, solar energy utilisation, and consideration of safety and security factors in gardens.
Dr Engineer Khalifa bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Director of Technical Services and Head of the “Most Beautiful Garden” Award Working Team, stated that this year’s edition received 100 applications from across Sharjah. He added that 43 winners were honoured from private garden owners across various award categories, including Natural Style, Creative Style, and Geometric Style, in addition to the Distinguished Category, which includes last year’s winners who made significant improvements and participated again this year. Four winning healthcare facilities were also recognised.
The garden evaluation process was carried out with precision and transparency, adhering to approved standards. The award team formed evaluation committees from across the Emirate, distributed in an organised manner to assess gardens in general, rather than assigning teams to the cities their municipalities belong to, ensuring fairness, transparency, and clarity.
