Diverse poetic voices shine at Nabati Poetry evening

Sharjah24: Sharjah’s Cultural Palace hosted a poetry evening as part of the 20th edition of the Sharjah Nabati Poetry Festival, attended by Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Culture; Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of Cultural Affairs at the Department; Batti Al Mazloom, Director of Al Hira Literary Council; and poetry enthusiasts and cultural figures.

The evening, presented by Mohammed Ghanem, featured a distinguished group of poets: Mohammed Balshar Al Khatiri and Hamda Al Merr (UAE), Nader Al Mughaibi (Saudi Arabia), Hamad Ghuraib (Jordan), Barzan Al Suhaim (Iraq), and Badriya Al Badri (Sultanate of Oman). Their readings showcased a rich diversity of themes in Nabati poetry, spanning national pride, human values, emotion, identity, and personal reflection.

Themes of belonging, emotion and human experience

Participating poets explored a wide range of poetic expressions, including patriotism, loyalty to place, emotional introspection, social realities, and human resilience. The readings underscored the depth and vitality of Nabati poetry as a living art form that continues to resonate with contemporary audiences across the Arab world.

Honouring participating poets

At the conclusion of the evening, Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, accompanied by Mohammed Al Qaseer and Batti Al Mazloom, honoured the participating poets for their contributions to this edition of the festival.
