Kuwait collected three medals, winning gold in the triple jump alongside silver and bronze in the hammer throw, while Egypt finished the day with two medals, led by gold in the 100m and silver in the triple jump. Saudi Arabia added to the standings with silver in the 100m and bronze in the 3000m steeplechase.
The hammer throw final saw Salma Almarri of Abu Dhabi Athletics Club (UAE) take gold with 49.45m. Fajer Ghulam of Salwa Alsabah Club (Kuwait) secured silver with 43.19m, while Dalal Al Mazmi of Salwa Alsabah Club (Kuwait) earned bronze with 34.29m.
On the track, the 400m final was won by Wala Mohammad Alqawasmi of Jordan, representing Al Qadisiyah Sport Club, in 58.13 seconds. Silver went to Mahra Abdul Rahim Naqeelia of the UAE, racing for Sharjah Women’s Club, in 59.30 seconds, while bronze was claimed by Baraa Mamdooh Mahmood of Iraq, competing for Al Fatat Sports Club – Nineveh, in 59.75 seconds.
The 3000m steeplechase final saw Narjis Abbood of Al Fatat Sports Club – Nineveh (Iraq) win gold in 11:55.68. Alya Almheiri of Sharjah Women’s Sports Club (UAE) took silver in 12:29.55, and Zainab Alomayr of Khaleej Club (Saudi Arabia) secured bronze in 15:43.89.
The day concluded with the 100m final, where Shaza Ahmed of Egypt’s National Talent Club claimed gold in 12.21 seconds. Lujain Alhumaid of the National Talent Club won silver in 12.34 seconds, while Fatma Alblooshi of Sharjah Women’s Sports Club (UAE) took bronze in 12.62 seconds.
The 5000m walk final was led by Jawan Abdel-Hamid Qureini of Al Qadisiyah Sport Club (Jordan), who won gold with a time of 30:43.86. Athraa Jasim of Al Fatat Sports Club – Nineveh (Iraq) finished second to secure silver in 33:15.10.
In the triple jump, Aisha Lakhdar of Kuwait’s Salwa Alsabah Club won gold with a leap of 11.55m. Egypt’s Mariam Mostafa of the National Talent Club took silver with 10.96m, while bronze went to Iraq’s Jawan Baha Al-Din Hassan of Al Fatat Sports Club – Nineveh with 10.84m.
Athletics action continues today (Monday) with another round of finals, including the 100m hurdles, pole vault, discus throw, javelin throw, 800m, and the 4×100m relay. Heptathlon events will also continue, featuring the long jump, javelin throw, and 800m, as track and field competition builds momentum.
