England extend Tuchel contract until Euro 2028 tournament

Sharjah24: The Football Association (FA) has extended the contract of German coach Thomas Tuchel as England manager until the UEFA European Championship 2028, which will be hosted in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Tuchel, 52, was appointed in October 2024 as Gareth Southgate’s successor. His initial contract was set to run until the end of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he hopes to guide the “Three Lions” to their first major title since 1966.

Perfect qualifying record under Tuchel

Under Tuchel’s leadership, England, the runners-up at the last European Championship, have won all eight of their qualifying matches without conceding a goal.

The contract extension, announced ahead of the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, reflects the FA’s strong confidence in the German coach as he aims to lead England to their first major trophy in nearly six decades.
