Sharjah24: The Sharjah Light Festival concluded its 15th edition, held under the theme “Lights That Tell Our Story,” and organised by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority from February 3 to 15, 2026. The festival saw strong public and media turnout, attracting visitors from across the UAE and abroad, and delivering an exceptional visual experience through light shows that illuminated 13 locations across the emirate.

The Sharjah Light Festival 2026 was a major cultural and artistic event, drawing visitors from within and outside the country and reaffirming Sharjah’s position as a beacon of creativity, diversity and artistic excellence. Over 13 days, the festival provided a dynamic platform for international artists to present innovative light displays and interactive digital technologies that reflected the emirate’s cultural identity, heritage, architectural beauty and urban development.

Signature light installations across the emirate

This year’s edition featured a series of remarkable shows that captivated audiences and the media alike. Highlights included the opening show at Dr Sultan Al Qasimi Centre, titled “A Journey Through Time: A Legacy of Belonging”; “Glowing Serenity” at Sharjah Mosque; “Rock of History” at Al Rafisah Dam in Khorfakkan; “The Infinite Fort” at Al Dhaid Fort; “Dreamers’ Haven” at Kalba Hanging Gardens; “Crafted Lights of the Peninsula” at Al Tayari Mosque in Dibba Al Hisn; “Light Between Words” at the House of Wisdom; “Heart of Khorfakkan” at Khorfakkan Waterfall; “Still Life, Eternal Motion” at Al Hamriyah Public Market; and “A Wishful Invitation” at Sharjah Fort.

The festival also featured installation art and illuminated sculptures, including “Path of Light” at Kalba Waterfront, “Threads of Memory” at Aljada, and “Pulse of Belonging” at Al Majaz Waterfront.

Closing ceremony honours partners

The closing ceremony, held at the House of Wisdom, was attended by senior officials, representatives of supporting public and private entities, organising committees, staff, volunteers and media representatives. The ceremony recognised partners, sponsors and media professionals in appreciation of their contributions to the festival’s success.

Khalid Jassim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, said: “The conclusion of the 15th edition of the Sharjah Light Festival reflects the success of our strategy to establish Sharjah as a global platform for arts and cultural innovation, in line with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The festival drew large audiences from within and outside the UAE, offering a unique experience that combined architectural beauty, cultural identity and advanced interactive technologies.”

He added that the festival not only highlights artistic creativity but also contributes to tourism and supports the local economy. He noted that the “Light Village” will continue until 22 February, offering a vibrant, family-friendly space for national projects to engage with the public.

Community engagement and economic impact

The festival reinforced its social role by supporting start-ups and small and medium-sized national projects, providing them with opportunities to reach audiences in a lively, interactive environment. It also offered volunteer opportunities for young Emirati talent across different festival sites, helping them develop skills and gain experience in cultural and tourism events.

As part of its community initiatives, the festival hosted the “Sharjah Light Run,” which brought together more than 500 participants of various ages and nationalities. The event promoted healthy lifestyles, community interaction, and awareness of the benefits of physical activity, reflecting the festival’s broader role in supporting quality of life and social values.

In addition to the light shows, the festival contributed to the local economy through the “Light Village,” which hosts more than 75 national projects and runs until February 22. The village offers visitors interactive activities, workshops, family entertainment and a dedicated children’s play area in a lively outdoor setting.
