Sharjah24: The Sharjah Digital Department (SDD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dell Technologies to promote artificial intelligence (AI) adoption across government operations, aligning with the emirate’s digital transformation vision.

The agreement demonstrates Sharjah’s commitment to strengthening AI-powered government systems and improving institutional readiness to adopt advanced technologies that enhance services and quality of life.

The MoU was signed by Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director General of SDD, and Walid Yehia, Managing Director of Gulf at Dell Technologies, in the presence of senior officials, including Engineer Lamia Obaid Al Shamsi, Director of SDD, and Majid Hamad Al Marri, Director of Sharjah Department of Human Resources.

Building AI institutional capabilities

Under the agreement, a comprehensive programme will be launched, featuring hands-on training, knowledge transfer, and specialised workshops aimed at senior and mid-level government executives, developers, and professionals across sectors such as culture, arts, and agriculture.

The initiative aims to empower government entities to develop practical AI applications within their work environments, speeding up adoption and enhancing operational efficiency and service delivery.

It will also improve workforce preparedness to keep up with rapid technological progress, supporting more proactive and seamless government services.

Driving digital transformation in Sharjah

Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi stated that the agreement marks a significant milestone in Sharjah’s digital transformation journey.

“We do not see AI just as a technological tool, but as a vital driver for redesigning government operations in Sharjah. Through this collaboration, we aim to build sustainable institutional capabilities that enable government entities to use AI in creating a more efficient and innovative integrated service ecosystem that improves quality of life,” he said.

He stated that the initiative aligns with the Sharjah Digital Transformation Strategy 2026–2028, aimed at improving government readiness, strengthening system integration, and supporting the development of a smart, interconnected government ecosystem.

He also emphasised the significance of public-private partnerships in speeding up digital transformation through knowledge transfer and international best practices.

Collaboration for a future-ready ecosystem

Walid Yehia, Managing Director for South Gulf at Dell Technologies, stated that the partnership aligns with Sharjah’s vision for a future driven by advanced technologies and AI.

He noted that Dell Technologies will apply its global expertise to assist government entities in adopting innovative solutions and developing more efficient, high-quality operational models.

Towards an integrated digital ecosystem

The agreement supports SDD’s role in leading digital transformation across the emirate by developing policies, building capabilities, and improving integration among government entities.

These efforts promote the development of a sustainable and interconnected digital ecosystem that enhances the digital economy, improves service quality for individuals and businesses, and puts people at the heart of innovation.
