Sharjah24: Tottenham continued their slump with a fifth consecutive defeat, falling 1-3 at home to Crystal Palace in the closing stage of the 29th round of the English Premier League.

Tottenham falters against Crystal Palace

Tottenham initially took the lead through Dominic Solanke (34) before Dutch defender Micky van de Veen was sent off just four minutes later. He received a red card after a failed clearance forced him to foul Ismaïla Sarr inside the penalty area, resulting in a penalty successfully converted by the Senegalese forward (40).

Red card and late goals seal Spurs’ fate

Crystal Palace capitalised on the numerical advantage, scoring twice in stoppage time through Norwegian Jørgen Strand Larsen (45+2) and Sarr (45+7).

The struggling Spurs suffered their fifth straight defeat following losses to Manchester United (0-2), Newcastle (1-2), Arsenal (1-4), and Fulham (1-2), extending a run of 11 matches without a win (4 draws and 7 defeats), the longest since 1975.

Tottenham’s last victory came in round 18, ironically also against Crystal Palace (1-0).

Fans voice frustration at temporary coach

This marks Tottenham’s third consecutive Premier League loss under Croatian coach Igor Tudor, who replaced Dane Thomas Frank in February after a disastrous spell in which he won only two of 17 matches.

Angry fans at the near-empty stadium booed Tudor and his team at the final whistle, with thousands having left well before the match ended.

Tottenham, who appointed Tudor hoping to replicate his previous successes with Juventus and Lazio, remain on 29 points in 16th place, nine points behind Crystal Palace in 13th.

With only one win in their last 13 home league matches, Tottenham now face a real threat of relegation to the Championship for the first time since the 1977–78 season.
