The renewed operations come after weeks of intense fighting, the worst in years, which has resulted in heavy casualties on both sides. Afghan authorities reported that more than 400 people were killed in a recent Pakistani airstrike in Kabul, a claim Islamabad denies, stating that its strikes targeted military sites and terrorist infrastructure.
A pause in hostilities had been observed during the Eid Al-Fitr holiday, reportedly at the request of countries including Türkiye, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. Pakistani officials confirmed that the truce ended in late March, with operations resuming thereafter.
Pakistan maintains that the Afghan Taliban support militant groups responsible for attacks داخل Pakistan, while Kabul rejects these accusations, insisting that militancy is an internal Pakistani issue.

Pakistan currently hosts over two million Afghan refugees and has launched a repatriation campaign targeting undocumented migrants.
The United Nations has raised concerns over the forced return of refugees, warning that such actions may violate international obligations.
