Sharjah24 - WAM: The Foreign Ministers of the United Arab Emirates, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Türkiye, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the State of Qatar strongly condemned the Israeli occupying power’s enactment of a law in its Parliament (Knesset), that allows the imposition of the death penalty in the occupied West Bank and its de facto application against Palestinians.
The Ministers cautioned against increasingly discriminatory and escalating Israeli practices that reinforce a system of apartheid and promote a rejectionist narrative denying the inalienable rights and very existence of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT).

They stressed that the legislation represents a dangerous escalation, particularly due to its discriminatory application against Palestinian prisoners, warning that such measures could further heighten tensions and undermine regional stability.

The Ministers also voiced deep concern over the conditions of Palestinian detainees in Israeli custody, highlighting growing risks amid credible reports of ongoing abuses, including torture, inhumane and degrading treatment, starvation, and the denial of basic rights. They noted that these practices are part of a broader pattern of violations against the Palestinian people.

They reaffirmed their rejection of Israel’s racially discriminatory, oppressive, and aggressive policies targeting Palestinians.

Furthermore, the Ministers emphasised the urgent need to avoid measures by the occupying power that could further inflame tensions on the ground, stressing the importance of accountability and calling for stronger international efforts to maintain stability and prevent further deterioration.
