During the ministerial session, Al Mazrouei outlined the UAE’s vision for an integrated and resilient transport and logistics ecosystem capable of adapting to global challenges. He cited Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz and attacks on commercial vessels as unprecedented threats to global supply chains, with direct effects on international market stability and commodity prices. He emphasised the importance of collective international action to safeguard freedom of navigation and secure trade routes.
Al Mazrouei stressed that strategic maritime corridors are vital arteries of the global economy and must not be exposed to threats. He called on the international community to act collectively to protect vessels, seafarers, and the marine environment from risks and underscored that no country has the right to disrupt international trade flows, given the global implications for energy and food security.
The minister highlighted the UAE’s proactive investment in advanced, multimodal infrastructure, including a national railway network spanning over 900 km, linking eastern and western ports. He noted the efficiency of the country’s land and maritime transport systems and their ability to adapt to challenges, providing practical alternatives for freight movement and enhancing sustainability.
Al Mazrouei also referenced regional connectivity projects, such as the Hafeet Rail Project with Oman, which aims to increase economic integration and trade capacity, with plans to expand the railway network across the GCC region. He emphasized the UAE’s ports as global re-export hubs that strengthen the nation’s role in regional and international trade.
He highlighted the need for stronger international coordination and continued investment in alternative trade corridors and resilient infrastructure to ensure the sustainability of global supply chains, which he described as the lifelines of the global economy.
On the sidelines of the forum, Al Mazrouei met with ministers including Andrey Nikitin of Russia and Makhkamov Ilkhom Rustamovich of Uzbekistan to explore cooperation and strategic partnerships in transport and logistics, infrastructure development, and regional connectivity.
Al Mazrouei was accompanied by a high-level UAE delegation, including officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Energy and Infrastructure, as well as representatives from Etihad Rail and other transport and logistics entities. These efforts reflect the UAE’s commitment to strengthening its international presence and deepening strategic partnerships in the sector.
