Sharjah24 - WAM: The United Arab Emirates has been recognised as one of the world’s leading hubs in artificial intelligence, according to the AI Index Report 2026 issued by Stanford University’s Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence.

Strong performance across AI indicators

The report noted that the UAE ranks among the top countries globally in institutional support for AI strategy, awareness, and governance. It also highlighted the country’s strong performance across key benchmarks, including skills, employment, adoption, and talent development.

High adoption and workplace integration

The UAE demonstrates AI adoption levels that exceed expectations relative to its GDP per capita, alongside Singapore, and consistently ranks globally in AI capabilities. More than 80% of employees in the UAE regularly use AI tools in the workplace, with high levels of trust in the technology.

Rapid growth in AI talent and skills

The report revealed that the UAE is among the fastest-growing countries in AI engineering skills, with technical expertise advancing more rapidly than general awareness. AI talent concentration in the country increased by over 100% between 2019 and 2025, while the UAE ranked highly in net talent inflow, reaching approximately 4.40 per 10,000 LinkedIn members.

Rising demand for AI jobs

AI-related job postings accounted for around 2.87% of total job listings in 2025, placing the UAE among global leaders in demand for AI professionals.

Advancing AI in education

The report underscored the UAE’s commitment to integrating AI into education through the National AI Strategy 2031. It noted that AI education has become mandatory across all school levels starting from the 2025–2026 academic year, covering core areas such as data, algorithms, innovation, and ethics.

Research and innovation leadership

At the research level, the report highlighted the role of Abu Dhabi’s Technology Innovation Institute as a leading global hub for advanced technology research, particularly in applied AI through Falcon models.

Sustained global leadership

The report concluded that the UAE continues to outperform expectations in AI adoption while maintaining a strong global presence, reinforcing its position as a leading centre for artificial intelligence worldwide.
