These attacks targeted a number of vital facilities in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, in flagrant violation of their sovereignty and airspace, and a clear breach of international law, international humanitarian law, and the United Nations Charter.
The protest note, delivered by Ahmed Juma Al Marashda, Director of the Arab Affairs Department, stressed that the continuation of these blatant aggressions carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran and the terrorist attacks by its proxies against Gulf states and countries of the region threaten regional stability and undermine international efforts in this regard and the efforts aimed at strengthening security and stability in the region. It further noted that these attacks place relations with the Republic of Iraq under extremely sensitive challenges, which negatively impacts existing cooperation and the fraternal relations between Iraq and the GCC states.
The note emphasised the necessity for the Government of the Republic of Iraq to commit to halting and preventing all hostile acts emanating from its territory and directed towards Gulf states and countries of the region, urgently and unconditionally, and the need to address these threats and attacks and prevent them in an immediate, urgent and responsible manner in line with relevant international and regional laws and conventions.
The protest note included a reference to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), which was co-sponsored by 136 countries, specifically its call for the immediate and unconditional cessation of any provocation or threat against neighbouring states, including the use of proxies.
In this context, it stressed the importance of Iraq playing its role in consolidating security and stability in the region, in a way that preserves its sovereignty and enhances its position as an active and responsible partner in its regional environment.
