Sharjah 24 – WAM: The Cyber Security Council (CSC) has warned that around 25% of publicly accessible files contain sensitive personal data, urging users to adopt safer practices when sharing files online.

“Cyber Pulse” campaign highlights digital safety

In its weekly message under the “Cyber Pulse” awareness campaign, the Council stressed the importance of responsible digital behaviour to reduce exposure to cyber threats.

Weak access controls increase risk

The CSC noted that between 68% and 77% of privately shared files may still be accessible to unintended users, emphasising that cloud storage alone does not guarantee protection.

Key measures to enhance cybersecurity

The Council recommended encrypting files, using strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, avoiding public links for sensitive data, and regularly reviewing access permissions, while also encouraging backups, secure networks, and updated systems to ensure better data protection.
