Sharjah 24 – WAM: His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, received Yvette Cooper, UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, to discuss regional developments.

Regional security and Iranian attacks discussed

The two sides reviewed the latest regional situation, including what they described as unprovoked Iranian missile attacks targeting the UAE and other countries, and their implications for regional and international security, maritime navigation, energy supplies, and the global economy.

UK reaffirms solidarity with the UAE

Yvette Cooper reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s solidarity with the UAE, supporting measures to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors.

Ceasefire efforts and regional stability

The discussions also covered recent announcements of a proposed ceasefire between the United States and Iran, along with the importance of strengthening international efforts to enhance security, stability, and sustainable peace in the region.

Strengthening UAE-UK relations

Both sides also reviewed bilateral relations and ways to further develop cooperation across various fields to serve shared interests and support the prosperity of both nations.
