Sharjah 24- The Khorfakkan City Municipal Council and the Sih al-Khur District Council recently met to talk about working together. The conversation was mostly about how the two groups can work together more to improve services in the area. By looking at the day-to-day needs of residents, the councils hope to find practical ways to improve local facilities and make life a bit easier for everyone in the community, such as enhancing public transportation, increasing recreational spaces, and ensuring better access to essential services.

Clarifying roles and local priorities

A significant portion of the meeting involved ensuring that all participants were aligned. Representatives reviewed the most pressing issues facing the area and looked at how to tackle them head-on. They also took the time to write down what each council and committee is in charge of. The goal is to get rid of any bureaucratic barriers or confusion so that community projects can move forward without any unnecessary delays.

Putting residents at the heart of decisions

To ensure public participation, the meeting concluded with a plan to include several District Council members in Khorfakkan's municipal committees. By integrating these members directly into the decision-making process, the councils want to ensure that the community’s actual concerns are heard and acted upon, rather than being an afterthought.

Looking ahead

This isn't intended to be a one-time meeting. Both sides have committed to regular sessions to keep the momentum going. People in Khorfakkan naturally want their local leaders to work together well, and these regular meetings are considered the best way to meet those expectations and make the partnership stronger for the future.
