Sharjah 24: Al Hamriyah Municipality took an active part in the "Proud of the UAE" campaign, launched at the call of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The initiative drew a wide and heartfelt response across the country, bringing communities together in a shared expression of national pride and belonging that felt, by all accounts, entirely natural.

Taking the campaign to the streets

The municipality carried the spirit of the campaign directly into the community through a series of on-the-ground activities. UAE flags were distributed to residents and visitors at public spaces throughout the area—including beaches, public parks, and the Beach Garden, and the team also visited government departments, institutions, and private sector establishments across the Al Hamriyah region. It was not a desk exercise. Flags were given to people in a warm, meaningful way.

A response that came straight from the heart

The community's response was unequivocal. Residents were genuinely moved — not simply by receiving a flag, but by what the moment represented. Raising the national flag, many said, speaks to something that runs far deeper than ceremony. It shows unity, shared identity, and pride in a country built day by day by its loyal people. Scenes like these, repeated across the UAE, painted a picture of a nation at ease with itself and proud of where it stands.

Leadership and people, side by side

Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of AL Hamriyah

The municipality said its participation in the campaign was fully in keeping with the directives of the UAE's wise leadership and with the country's broader commitment to strengthening national identity. He described initiatives of this kind as a direct bridge between government and people — one that encourages genuine, positive engagement and reminds every member of the community that they have a part to play in the national story.

More than a symbol

Al Shamsi emphasised that the flag is not merely an emblem to raise on occasions and then store away. It is, he said, a statement of national unity, a record of collective achievement, and a story of pride that the people of the UAE write anew every single day. At Hamriyah Municipality, he added, the aim has always been to translate these values into real, community-level action — initiatives that make a tangible difference to people's lives and support the kind of society the UAE is working to build.

This commitment will not end here

Al Shamsi made clear that the municipality has no intention of slowing down. It will continue to develop and deliver community initiatives that foster a culture of positive participation, strengthen the ties between people, and support the UAE's direction towards sustainable development and an ever-improving quality of life. Raising the national flag, he said, will always be an enduring symbol — one that brings citizens and residents together in a moment of shared belonging that is as genuine today as it has ever been.

Building a community worth belonging to

Al Shamsi noted that the campaign sits firmly within Al Hamriyah Municipality's wider strategy to deepen community partnership and embed the values of national identity at every level of daily life. The goal, he said, is to reinforce the emirate's standing as a fully integrated, forward-looking environment — one that reflects the spirit of union and the bonds that connect all members of its society, regardless of where they come from or what role they play.
