Blast on Colombian highway kills 13 and injures dozens

Cauca Governor Octavio Guzmán said the explosive device detonated while the bus was travelling along the Pan-American Highway in theCajibíoarea, causing multiple casualties.

Government condemnation

President Gustavo Petro condemned the attack, describing the perpetrators as “terrorists, fascists and drug traffickers”, and said civilians were deliberately targeted.

Officials in the region declared a high state of alert after a wave of bombings and attempted attacks on public infrastructure. At least 26 incidents have been reported in the past two days in southwestern Colombia, though some caused no injuries.
