Rashid Al Dhaheri became the first Emirati driver to achieve victory in this category of single-seater racing at the international level.
The round took place from April 24 to 26 in the Styria region, specifically in Spielberg, coinciding with the German Touring Car Championship (DTM). The event attracted a crowd of over 100,000 spectators.
The Red Bull Ring, a Formula 1 World Championship circuit, is one of the world's most prominent tracks. Stretching 4.326 kilometres, it features 10 turns and a diverse layout of straights and braking zones, enhancing overtaking and competitive opportunities.
The race saw the participation of 30 drivers from over 20 nationalities. Al Dhaheri, a member of the Mercedes Formula 1 Junior Programme, delivered an outstanding performance in the regional Formula car, which boasts a carbon fiber chassis and a 270-horsepower engine.
This season saw the introduction of a new technical system that grants drivers a power boost for specific periods during the race, adding a tactical dimension to the competition and contributing to increased overtaking opportunities.
Al Dhaheri competed in the race with his French team, driving a car bearing the colours of an Emirati team. He topped his qualifying group, started the first race from second position, and finished second, securing a podium finish and valuable points.
In the second race, in which he started from eleventh place according to the reverse grid system, Al Dhaheri delivered a balanced performance, gradually progressing in the rankings, before securing the lead in the final laps, benefiting from his skills in managing the race, and crossing the finish line in first place, achieving a historic victory.
