Sharjah24/WAM: US President Donald Trump revealed on Friday that a three-day ceasefire had been agreed between Russia and Ukraine. It is set to include a suspension of all combat operations.
The agreement also includes the exchange of 1,000 prisoners from each side, according to Trump.
In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump said: “I am pleased to announce that there will be a ceasefire for three days, 9, 10 and 11 May.”

He added that the period coincides with Victory Day commemorations in Russia and similar observances in Ukraine, noting both countries’ historical role in the Second World War. Trump expressed hope that the pause in fighting and prisoner swap could mark the beginning of an end to a long, bloody and severe war.
