According to the Egyptian Presidency, the talks focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries and reviewing the latest developments across the region.
Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El-Shenawy stated that the two presidents held extensive discussions on regional issues. During the meeting, Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts to contain ongoing tensions and stressed the importance of preventing further escalation and instability in the region due to its impact on regional and global security, supply chains, trade, and transportation routes.
The discussions also addressed the latest developments related to the Palestinian issue. Sisi highlighted Egypt’s efforts to reinforce the Gaza ceasefire agreement and advance the implementation of the second phase of the truce.
The leaders additionally discussed developments in Lebanon and explored ways to strengthen cooperation among Mediterranean countries.
Following the talks, Sisi and Macron participated in the inauguration ceremony of the new headquarters of Senghor University in New Borg El Arab City.
Senghor University is an educational institution affiliated with the International Organization of the Francophonie. The ceremony was also attended by Burundi Prime Minister Nestor Ntahontuye, Secretary-General of the International Organisation of the Francophonie Louise Mushikiwabo, and Senegalese Foreign Minister Cheikh Niang.
