Sharjah 24 – AFP: Victor Wembanyama delivered a dominant performance as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 115-108 to take a 2-1 lead in their NBA playoff series, while the New York Knicks strengthened their grip with a 108-94 win over the Philadelphia 76ers to go 3-0 up.

Wembanyama stars in Spurs’ comeback win

The French superstar produced a decisive fourth-quarter display, scoring 16 of his 39 points late on to break Minnesota’s resistance. He also added 15 rebounds and five blocks in a commanding all-round performance.

Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves with 32 points despite returning from injury, but Minnesota’s slow start and late defensive lapses proved costly.

Wembanyama said he thrives under pressure, while teammates praised his ability to deliver in physical playoff battles.

Knicks take commanding 3-0 series lead

Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 33 points and nine assists as New York extended their winning streak to six games and moved within one win of the Eastern Conference finals.

Despite a strong start from Philadelphia, the Knicks responded with a dominant second quarter and controlled the game down the stretch.

Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart provided key support on the boards, while the Sixers struggled offensively in the closing stages, falling into a 3-0 series deficit—historically an almost impossible position to recover from.
