Swiatek continued her resurgence following a difficult start to the season, securing a commanding 6-1, 6-2 victory over world number five Jessica Pegula in Wednesday’s quarterfinal clash at the Rome Masters 1000 event.
The three-time Rome champion delivered an impressive performance on clay, her favourite surface, reaching her first semifinal of the season. She wrapped up the match in just over an hour, displaying the aggressive style that previously guided her to French Open success.
Swiatek will now face either Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina, ranked second, or Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina, ranked tenth, in the semifinals.
