Sharjah 24 – Reuters: Jannik Sinner continued his dominant run ahead of the French Open as the world number one set a new record with his 32nd consecutive Masters 1000 victory, defeating Russia’s Andrey Rublev 6-2, 6-4 to reach the Italian Open semi-finals on Thursday.

Sinner moved clear of Novak Djokovic’s previous mark and now targets further milestones, with Djokovic still the only player to win all nine Masters 1000 events—an achievement Sinner could match if he claims the Rome title.

Commanding win over Rublev

The top seed made a fast start, breaking Rublev early in both sets and maintaining control throughout the match, sealing victory in one hour and 31 minutes with 19 winners as the home crowd celebrated his record-breaking achievement.

Eyes on Rome title and Roland Garros

Sinner, who recently became the first player to win five consecutive Masters 1000 titles after triumphs in Madrid, Paris, Indian Wells, Miami and Monte Carlo, will now face either Daniil Medvedev or Martin Landaluce in the semi-finals as he continues his push for a first Rome crown and another Grand Slam bid at Roland Garros.
