Sinner won 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 in a final lasting two hours and 15 minutes, in their first meeting since the start of the season, and in the process took the world No. 1 ranking from Alcaraz.
The 24-year-old Italian secured his third Masters 1000 title of the year after completing the “Sunshine Double” in Indian Wells and Miami, extending his winning streak to 17 matches.
He also became only the third player, alongside Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, to win four consecutive Masters 1000 titles, having previously lifted the Paris title late last year.
This was the first clash between Sinner and Alcaraz since their ATP Finals meeting in November, which Sinner also won, while the head-to-head record now stands at 10-7 in favour of the Spaniard.
