The initiative is part of the Institute’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness of the importance of cultural heritage and its vital role in preserving collective memory and strengthening national identity, thereby contributing to strengthening individuals’ connection to their cultural and human heritage and preserving its components for future generations.

Cultural session to promote heritage awareness

In this context, the Institute – Kalba Branch – organised a session as part of its cultural programmes aimed at highlighting the importance of knowledge-based initiatives related to heritage. The session featured Dr Fatima Al-Mughni, researcher in Emirati folklore, who presented a rich and insightful discussion on the concept of private museums as cultural and human spaces that preserve individual and family stories and experiences. These museums contribute to documenting and transmitting community heritage to future generations, thus enhancing the sustainability of cultural heritage and its presence in collective memory.

The session addressed several important themes, most notably the role of heritage in shaping national identity, the importance of heritage artifacts in evoking human memory, and ways to utilise modern technologies to support private museums and develop their display mechanisms while preserving their authenticity and cultural value.
