Sharjah 24: Within the framework of promoting human values and deepening communication between generations, the Activities Department of the Deanship of Student Affairs at Al Qasimia University (AQU), in cooperation with Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD), organised a visit to the nursing home in the Emirate of Sharjah under the title "Blessings of Our Home".
A number of university students from different nationalities participated in this humanitarian event, where they showed great interaction and genuine interest in the initiative that aims to spread joy and happiness among the elderly.
This visit reflected the effective cooperation between AQU and SSSD, and highlighted the joint commitment to promoting human values and providing support and care for the elderly, which contributes to strengthening ties between different generations and deepening understanding and communication.
The visit aimed at sitting with the elderly and talking to them, which gave students the opportunity to listen to their stories and life experiences, and to learn about the customs and traditions of the people of the UAE.
The students were keen to spend a pleasant time with the home residents, which created an atmosphere of joy and happiness.
The students expressed their happiness at visiting the nursing home and working to provide support and care for the elderly, and stressed the importance of social initiatives, including the “Blessing of our Home” initiative, in enhancing solidarity and social cohesion among different segments of society.
Maryam Al Qatari, Director of the nursing home in Sharjah, praised the generous visit and the beautiful gesture from AQU and students, stressing the importance of supporting the community and combining efforts in providing care and support to senior citizens, expressing her deep thanks to AQU for its integration and cooperation with the department in different fields, including community and humanitarian initiatives.
The Director of the nursing home indicated that the home is open to receive members of society to enhance integration and social solidarity between elderly fathers and mothers residing in the nursing home and the community.
At the end of the visit, students distributed souvenirs to the elderly residing in the home, expressing their appreciation and respect for this dear segment of society.
Ahlam Bin Jarsh, Assistant Director for Student Affairs at AQU, pointed out the importance of the “Blessing of our Home” initiative, saying that the visit is not just a humanitarian event, but rather an embodiment of the deep commitment to promoting the values of compassion and communication between generations.
Bin Jarash added that AQU enhances educational orientations towards listening to and interacting with elderly life stories, which contributes to building a bridge of understanding and appreciation between young people and the elderly. She praised the great cooperation between AQU and SSSD in enabling students to continue implementing initiatives that aim to continue such activities that enhance the spirit of giving and respect within the community.
