Mohammed Rashid Bin Bayat, Vice-Chairman of the Sharjah Charity International, explained that the initiative is one of the association’s flagship projects, annually sending hundreds of participants from partner institutions and organisations. Qasimia University has been a regular participant, with 50 students sent in 2017, 2018, and 2019; 40 students in both 2023 and 2024; and 45 students recently for the rituals. Bin Bayat emphasised that the project fulfils a meaningful mission, enabling many to achieve their dream of visiting the holy sites, and expressed gratitude to the association’s supporters and the university administration for their continued cooperation.
Prof. Dr Awad Al Khalaf, Chancellor of Al Qasimia University, noted that the collaboration aligns with the university’s mission to educate students from 136 nationalities in an environment that promotes cultural diversity, moderation, and tolerance. Supported by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the partnership enhances the university’s scientific and humanitarian mission, preparing graduates to contribute positively to society while promoting the values of knowledge and charitable service.
Dr Al Khalaf praised the productive cooperation between the university and the charity association, describing it as a pioneering model of synergy between educational and charitable institutions. He highlighted the project’s role in providing students with spiritual reassurance and ease while deepening their religious awareness and embedding moral and humanitarian values alongside their academic pursuits.
