Advancing research and innovation
The forum is held as part of Al Qasimia University’s vision to establish scientific research as a fundamental pillar of its academic system, while fostering an environment of innovation and knowledge production that contributes to serving and developing society. During the event, the university announced its annual awards—presented for the fourth consecutive year—to honour distinguished faculty members and students in the fields of scientific research, teaching, service to the university and community, and student research.
Leadership support and research growth
In his speech, His Excellency Professor Dr Awad Al Khalaf emphasised that the qualitative progress achieved by Al Qasimia University in scientific research and postgraduate studies is due to the continuous support and patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, and his commitment to establishing research as a cornerstone in human development and societal advancement.
Expanding research output and global presence
He explained that the university is witnessing rapid development in its research ecosystem and postgraduate programmes within a strategic vision that places scientific research at the heart of its academic mission. The university has strengthened its institutional infrastructure supporting research and academic publishing, while expanding knowledge production in line with international standards. This includes increasing the publication of peer-reviewed academic books and indexed research outputs in global databases, particularly Scopus.
Rising research indicators
He noted that the university’s research performance indicators have seen significant growth, with the number of researchers listed in international databases rising to more than thirty. The total volume of published scientific output has also increased to nearly four hundred research papers, alongside notable growth in publications bearing the university’s name, reflecting its expanding institutional research presence internationally.
Strengthening research culture
He highlighted the university’s commitment to embedding a culture of scientific research among faculty and students by supporting foundational, competitive, and collaborative research projects, as well as promoting international publication in peer-reviewed journals. These efforts contribute to enhancing research quality and facilitating access to knowledge resources.
He added that the university continues to develop its research system through digital transformation in the management of academic publishing, the adoption of best international practices in research ethics, and the enhancement of students’ research skills at both undergraduate and master’s levels, in line with the demands of contemporary scientific progress.
The forum’s activities included a visual presentation on the university’s efforts in supporting scientific research. His Excellency Jamal Salem Al Tarifi also toured the accompanying scientific exhibition, reviewing key projects and academic publications presented by the university’s colleges and centres, which reflected the diversity of research fields and their connection to societal issues and needs.
