Sharjah 24 – WAM: At least nine people were killed and 29 others injured late Friday when a pile of confiscated explosives detonated at a police station in the Indian-administered region of Kashmir, according to police sources. The incident comes just days after a car explosion in New Delhi claimed eight lives.

Forensic officials among the victims

Most of those killed were policemen, including members of the forensic team who had been examining the explosives before the blast. Several of the injured remain in critical condition.

Blast impact and ongoing identification

Authorities said the explosion was so powerful that some victims were burned beyond recognition.

“The identification of the bodies is underway, as some have been completely burnt,” a police source reported. “The intensity of the blast was such that body parts were found in nearby houses, 100–200 metres away from the station.”
