Sharjah 24: The Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) explored avenues for collaboration in promoting Quranic sciences, studies in rhetorical exegesis, exchanging expertise, and organising academic seminars and conferences.

ICESCO delegation’s visit to the Academy

The visit took place during a tour of the Academy by His Excellency Dr Salim Mohammed A. Al-Malik, Director-General of ICESCO, accompanied by a delegation that included His Excellency Dr Osama Heikal, Head of the Media and Communication Sector; His Excellency Salim Omar Salim, Director of ICESCO’s Regional Office in Sharjah; Dr Salim Hilal Al-Habsi, Director of the General Secretariat for National Commissions and Conferences; His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Zinelabidine, Head of the Culture and Communication Sector; Dr Abdulhakeem Al-Senan, Director of ICESCO’s Regional Office in Baku; and Eng. Abdullah Al-Salihi, Partnerships & External Relations Officer.

They were received by His Excellency Dr Abdullah Khalaf Al-Hosani, Secretary-General of the Holy Quran Academy, along with several department directors. The delegation toured the Academy’s museum and scientific sections, where they were briefed on its scholarly, research, and museum roles.

ICESCO Praises the Academy’s Scholarly and Cultural Role

Dr Salim bin Mohammed Al-Malik stated that the Holy Quran Academy is a scientific beacon—not only for the beauty of its architecture, but also for the manuscripts and artifacts it preserves, which narrate the history of Quranic writing, its sciences, and the scholars who dedicated their efforts to serving the Holy Quran.

He praised the great efforts of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in establishing this distinguished institution and making it a destination for visitors and researchers. He noted that the Academy will continue to serve future generations as a source of civilisational and historical knowledge.

Sharjah’s role in preserving Quranic heritage

Al-Malik emphasised that the care devoted to the Holy Quran and to the history of writing its rare manuscripts reflects Sharjah’s leading role in serving the Book of God. He affirmed the Academy’s status as a global destination for learning the Quran in its well-established and widely transmitted recitations.

Future collaborative initiatives

He added that ICESCO will introduce scientific initiatives and collaborative projects with the Academy that serve the Holy Quran and its sciences. He expressed confidence that this partnership will be fruitful, noting that the Academy—supported and overseen by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah—stands as a leading educational and scholarly institution on the global stage.
