Sharjah24: The Poetry House in Sharjah hosted a poetry evening on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, featuring poets Talal Al-Salti, Tiba Jalil and Ali Hassan Al-Mu’allif. The event was attended by the poet Mohammed Abdullah Al-Buraiki, Director of the House, along with an audience of critics, poets and poetry enthusiasts.

Presented by media professional Ahmed Shabib, the evening opened with a warm welcome to those present and words of gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his patronage of creative platforms. He said:

“A salute of reverence and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who has made the book a weapon, the letter a key, and Sharjah a beacon for mind, spirit and beauty.”

First reading by Talal Al-Salti

Talal Al-Salti opened the evening with his poem Zahid, in which he expressed his view of life, his relationship with poetry, and his reflections on the faces and mirrors of meaning, all conveyed through a poetic language rich in imagery and imagination.

He then recited a personal text marked by dialogue and address to a close other — perhaps the poem he sees as his “beloved” — depicting how she approaches him even as he is absorbed in other atmospheres, ultimately drawing him back to her.

Readings by Tiba Jalīl

Poet Tiba Jalil, from Al Qasimia University, followed with poems distinguished by linguistic depth and artistic vision, heralding a poet carving her path with confidence. She began with a delicate, water-laden poem titled Playing on the Wing of the Cloud.

She then read another text titled I Grow, embodying her self-assurance as she races skyward with youthful energy, driven by ambition toward cities of wonder and beauty.

Final reading by Ali Hassan Al-Mu’allif

The readings concluded with poet Ali Hassan Al-Mu’allif, whose texts soared in contemplation of life as he viewed it from a distant horizon, using language as a medium for flight and arrival. He then presented a poem titled A Cup for the Pains of the Remorseful, blending hope with the ache of sorrow as he revisited memories of friends with whom he shared both the burdens and joys of life.

At the end of the evening, poet Mohammed Al-Buraiki honoured the participating poets.
