Maryam Nasser Al Suwaidi, Director of the Khorfakkan branch at the Department, said the aim of taking part was to promote a culture of keeping beaches clean, strengthen positive environmental behaviour among community members, and protect marine life by reducing pollutants. She added that the initiative reaffirms the importance of community cooperation in maintaining a clean and sustainable environment and supports environmental responsibility programmes in Khorfakkan.
She noted that caring for and preserving the marine environment helps combat marine pollution, and that the involvement of Asala members encourages wider community participation in such volunteer initiatives. It also raises environmental awareness about the importance of keeping beaches clean and adopting behaviours that support these efforts, while further promoting volunteer and group work in beach-cleaning activities.
The participation of Asala Club members included conducting a comprehensive clean-up of Al Lou’lou’iyah Beach, collecting waste, sorting recyclable materials, and attending awareness workshops delivered by the Authority’s team on the importance of protecting coastal ecosystems.
