Luxor Festival unites poetry, calligraphy, and cultural heritage

Sharjah 24: The second and third days of the Luxor Festival of Arabic Poetry offered a rich program of creative events, including a literary symposium, an Arabic calligraphy exhibition, poetry readings, and a book signing for seven new poetry collections.

The tenth edition of the festival was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and organised by the Sharjah Department of Culture in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture.

Arabic calligraphy exhibition

Hosted at the Luxor Public Library near the ancient Avenue of Sphinxes, the exhibition showcased 26 works by leading artists from across Egypt. The event highlighted the interplay between art and history, emphasising the preservation of Arab identity and the aesthetic value of Arabic calligraphy.

Literary symposium and book signings

The symposium, titled "Cultural and Artistic Patterns in Contemporary Arabic Poetry," featured discussions on the development of modern Arabic poetry with contributions from poets, critics, and scholars. The book signing presented seven new poetry collections to the audience.

Poetry readings

Poetry readings explored emotional, national, and humanitarian themes, showcasing the diversity of experiences and the depth of contemporary poetic creativity.
