University of Sharjah, NCM forge strategic research partnership

Sharjah 24: The University of Sharjah (UOS) and the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen scientific and research collaboration. The agreement, formalised at NCM’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, was signed by His Excellency Dr Abdullah Ahmed Al Mandous, president of the World Meteorological Organization and director general of NCM, and Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, UoS Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies.

Focus on joint research and expertise exchange

The memorandum emphasises supporting joint research projects in meteorology and environmental sciences. It also aims to facilitate the exchange of expertise among researchers, develop training programmes for students and researchers through field projects, and enable the sharing of scientific data to meet the needs of both institutions.

Key areas of cooperation

The agreement covers joint research studies in climate, meteorology, and related sciences. It includes organising workshops and training sessions for university students and center employees, providing practical training opportunities for UOS students at NCM, and sharing the use of laboratories and scientific equipment to support research projects.

The signing ceremony was attended by key representatives from both institutions. From the University of Sharjah: Prof. Qasim Nasser, Dr Walid Ziada, and Malik Mahdawi. From the National Center of Meteorology: Omar Al Yazidi and Alyaa Al Mazrouei.
