Bologna, who won the tournament last season for the first time in 52 years, will meet Lazio in the quarter-finals. Parma, struggling in Serie A, had taken the lead unexpectedly through Benedyczak, who ran onto a through ball from Norwegian Mathias Løvik and slotted it past goalkeeper Federico Ravaglia. Rou’s equaliser came before half-time after his first shot hit the crossbar, with the rebound controlled and finished into the net, marking his first goal since joining Bologna in August.
Bologna also received positive news as veteran striker Ciro Immobile returned as a late substitute, making his first appearance since an August thigh injury.
Lazio joined the quarter-finalists by defeating hosts Milan 1-0, with Mattia Zaccagni scoring ten minutes from the end. Milan, playing their first Coppa Italia match of the season, have not won the cup since their fifth title in 2003. Lazio will continue their campaign, aiming for an eighth Coppa Italia title and their first since 2019.
This was Milan’s second defeat of the season in all competitions and their first since 23 August, when they lost 2-1 to Cremonese in Serie A. Lazio avenged their recent league defeat against Massimiliano Allegri’s team by the same scoreline.
Lazio and Bologna join Juventus, Napoli, Atalanta, and Inter in the last eight.
