Sharjah 24 – WAM: Hanan Balkhy, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, stated that the UAE’s healthcare system is highly advanced, both regionally and globally.

UAE’s performance during COVID-19

Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Finance Week, Balkhy highlighted the UAE’s capability during the COVID-19 pandemic. She noted the efficiency of epidemiological surveillance and the strong coordination between public and private healthcare systems, which helped prevent fragmentation in healthcare delivery.

A model for emulation

She affirmed that the UAE is able to provide highly efficient healthcare, making it a model for other countries to emulate.

Importance of donors and partnerships

Balkhy added that their presence at Abu Dhabi Finance Week is important for meeting donors and partners on health-related matters. She emphasised the critical role of donors, member states, and partners in developing innovative solutions to health challenges, noting that donors include governments, the private sector, and other cooperating organisations.
