Sharjah24: Abu Bakr Mohammed Saleh Ahmed Al Kindi, Director of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, said that Games of the Past event, organised by the Institute on Tuesday in conjunction with the celebration of its 11th anniversary, reflects a celebration of the UAE’s traditional folk games heritage.
Abu Bakr Al Kindi stated that the event is organised as a vibrant window into childhood memories and a living space that revives the games of ancestors which shaped the collective identity of Emirati society and are considered an integral part of cultural heritage.

In statements to Sharjah 24, Al Kindi explained that the event aims to connect younger generations with their cultural roots and promote values of simplicity, cooperation, and fair competition. This is achieved by reviving traditional games in a heritage-inspired atmosphere that reflects the authenticity of the past and affirms its continuity in the present, noting that folk games continue to be practised at heritage festivals to preserve this rich legacy.
