UAE President extends relief support to Sri Lanka during a call

Sharjah 24 – WAM: His Excellency Anura Kumara Dissanayake, President of Sri Lanka, expressed his gratitude to the UAE for its ongoing humanitarian assistance to communities affected by recent floods and heavy rainfall in a phone call with UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

UAE extends condolences and support

During the call, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed extended his condolences to President Dissanayake and the Sri Lankan people for the loss of life caused by the floods, wishing the country safety and resilience amid the crisis.

UAE humanitarian response

The UAE’s rapid response reflects its longstanding humanitarian approach, emphasizing timely support for communities affected by natural disasters and crises. The aid aims to alleviate immediate burdens and contribute to long-term recovery efforts.

Emergency relief operations

Emergency relief operations were launched through the Joint Operations Command, the UAE Agency for International Aid, and the Emirates Red Crescent. Efforts included search and rescue missions in the hardest-hit areas by Abu Dhabi Civil Defence teams and the delivery of essential supplies such as food and emergency shelter materials for displaced families.
