Sharjah 24 – AFP: Bologna booked their place in the Italian Super Cup final after defeating Inter Milan 3-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time. The match was played in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

Early goal and Bologna’s equaliser

Inter took the lead just 74 seconds into the match when French forward Marcus Thuram acrobatically finished a long pass from Alessandro Bastoni. Bologna responded in the 35th minute, with Riccardo Orsolini converting a penalty kick to level the score.

Penalty shootout drama

With the match tied at the end of regulation time, the contest was decided by a penalty shootout. Inter missed three spot-kicks through Bastoni, Nicolo Barella, and Ange-Yoang Bony, while Bologna missed two. Veteran striker Ciro Immobile sealed Bologna’s victory by scoring the decisive fifth penalty.

Final clash with Napoli

Bologna will now face Napoli in the final. Napoli advanced after defeating defending champions AC Milan 2-0 on Thursday in a match that was overshadowed by verbal exchanges between the coaching staffs of both teams.
