Under the agreement, the Agency will contribute US$15 million to implement the project “Protection and Assistance for People Affected by the Conflict in Sudan,” scheduled to run from January 1 to December 31, 2026. The project aims to support displaced individuals and those impacted by the conflict through life-saving measures, including protection, shelter, healthcare, and education.
The agreement was signed by Rashid Al Shamsi, Executive Director of Logistics Support at the UAE Aid Agency, and Dr Khaled Khalifa, UNHCR Senior Advisor and Representative to the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in the presence of Dr. Tareq Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency.
Dr Al Ameri emphasized that the agreement reflects the UAE’s ongoing efforts to alleviate humanitarian suffering in Sudan. He noted that the UAE has allocated US$784 million in aid since the start of the conflict and a total of US$4.24 billion to Sudan over the past decade.
Dr Al Ameri affirmed, “The UAE will continue to be at the forefront of global efforts to support the Sudanese people, following the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the directives of our wise leadership.”
The UAE is currently the second-largest donor to Sudan since the conflict began, after the United States, highlighting its enduring commitment to humanitarian solidarity and support for peace and stability in the region.
