The People First™ program is a new initiative in our region, offered by Inspiring Workplaces, a respected organization based in the UK. SEDD is excited to be among the first government bodies in the UAE and the wider region to earn this distinction, which not only gives them a competitive edge but also places them in a leadership role when it comes to improving workplace environments.
This accreditation is based on a thorough evaluation of the workplace, looking at six important areas. These areas include how well employees feel supported and valued, how clearly information is communicated, how engaged people are in their work, and how fair and transparent job practices are. This evaluation involves a comprehensive survey of employees and an in-depth look at the organization’s overall growth.
SEDD’s achievement of the gold award is the result of dedicated efforts to create a culture that encourages positive working conditions, innovation, and employee participation. The department is continually improving its policies to ensure that employees feel satisfied in their jobs and that the organization operates at its best, following the Sharjah government’s commitment to excellence and high-quality work life.
Hamad Ali Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Chairman of SEDD and Member of the Sharjah Executive Council, expressed that this milestone reflects the department’s vision of investing in its employees. He emphasized that a motivating work environment is crucial for the sustainability of the organization and for improving the services they provide.
He stated, “At the Sharjah Economic Development Department, we understand that our employees are the key to our success. This recognition is the result of our efforts to develop and motivate our staff while providing a supportive environment that helps them reach their full potential and achieve great results.”
