The athletes underwent testing in taekwondo, judo, karate, archery, shooting, rowing, sailing, swimming, fencing, table tennis, athletics, and badminton. The tests aim to assess their physical abilities and to provide reports to coaches through a specialised committee that defines the requirements for the next stage of training. A further evaluation is scheduled at the start of the next sports season to measure the level of development achieved.
The tests were conducted at clubs in Al Madam, Al Dhaid, Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club, Kalba, Khorfakkan, and Dibba Al Hisn. The next round of assessments is planned to take place at Al Hamriyah and Sharjah clubs.
Imran Al Jasmi, Director of the Sports Affairs and Development Department at the Council, stressed the importance of these tests, saying they are the best way to assess and evaluate players’ abilities from one stage to another. He noted that a specialised committee within the Council oversees review and follow-up through a detailed database in the Talent Care Department, ensuring continuous development of athletes’ talents and analysis of results after each phase.
Al Jasmi praised the efforts of the specialised team and commended the cooperation of clubs and coaches, affirming that the outcomes will significantly benefit sport in the emirate and contribute to producing future champions across various disciplines.
