El Shazly explained, in remarks to “Sharjah 24,” that this sport has a fundamental humanitarian aspect and includes a series of competitive events designed to enhance physical fitness and rescue skills. The championship featured races in pools and on beaches, where lifeguards competed using specialised equipment such as rescue boards and swimming tubes, alongside medical tests in victim rescue, first aid, CPR, and drowning response.
He emphasised that the goal of this global competitive sport is to develop the skills of professional lifeguards and ensure their rapid and effective response in emergency situations.
El Shazly added: “This championship represents a qualitative leap in promoting professional lifesaving culture at the regional level, as it helps unify international standards and apply them in practice. This positive competitive spirit was clearly reflected throughout the championship, reinforcing the UAE—and Sharjah in particular—as a leading hub for marine and humanitarian sports.”
In concluding his remarks, El Shazly extended thanks and appreciation to the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club for their outstanding organisation and efforts in ensuring the success of this unique global event.
