First-of-its-kind event in the UAE
The championship, the first of its kind in the UAE, features 56 male and female athletes from various age groups and is being held under the supervision of the UAE Modern Pentathlon Federation (UAEMPF) and with support from the Ministry of Sports.
Cooperation with UAE Modern Pentathlon Federation
Al Ketbi said the club hosted the championship in cooperation with the UAE Modern Pentathlon Federation, the sport’s official governing body, and the Ministry of Sports.
Beginning of future championships
In statements to Sharjah 24, Al Ketbi explained that the event marks the first step in a series of future championships planned by the club. The participants include UAE citizens and residents representing several emirates and age categories.
Appreciation for organisers and supporters
Al Ketbi expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Sports and the UAE Modern Pentathlon Federation for their efforts in supporting the success of the championship, wishing all participants success.
Officials attend opening ceremony
The opening ceremony was attended by Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, the Assistant Undersecretary for the Sports Development and Competitiveness Sector at the Ministry of Sports; Mohammed Sultan Al Khasouni, Chairman of Mleiha Cultural and Sports Club; Dr Huda Al Matroushi, President of the UAE Modern Pentathlon Federation; and several club representatives and officials.
