The tragedy occurred late Saturday when a rudimentary passenger boat traveling from Jigawa State to Yobe State overturned, according to Mohammed Goje, Executive Director of the State Emergency Management Agency in Yobe.
"So far, emergency volunteers and rescue teams have recovered 26 bodies," Goje said. The agency added that 14 people are still unaccounted for.
