Sharjah24: Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) discussed ways to enhance economic cooperation and develop investment partnerships with the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, as part of its efforts to unlock new opportunities for Sharjah’s business community and reinforce the emirate’s position as a global hub for trade and investment.

During a high-level meeting at the Sharjah Chamber’s headquarters, His Excellency Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, received a Nepalese delegation led by His Excellency Tej Bahadur Chhetri, Ambassador of Nepal to the UAE, and Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The discussions centred on priority sectors in Nepal, including hydropower, tourism, cable car projects, information technology, ready-made garments and agriculture.

Al Owais encouraged Nepalese businesses to leverage international exhibitions hosted by Expo Centre Sharjah, while Dhakal expressed interest in establishing Nepalese enterprises in Sharjah’s competitive business environment.

Strengthening cooperation with Sri Lanka

At a related meeting, Al Owais welcomed a Sri Lankan delegation led by His Excellency Alexi Gunasekara, Consul General of Sri Lanka. Talks focused on cooperation opportunities in renewable energy, food security and logistics, and discussed upcoming economic events, high-level visits and bilateral business meetings. The Sri Lankan side invited the Sharjah Chamber to lead a business delegation to Sri Lanka to explore partnerships in textiles, gemstones and other key sectors.
