Trump to Cuba: Make a deal before it is too late

Sharjah 24 – AFP: US President Donald Trump on Sunday warned Cuba to strike an agreement with the United States or face potential consequences, saying that Venezuelan oil and financial support to Havana would come to an end.

No more Venezuelan oil or money, Trump Says

Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social to declare, “There will be no more oil or money going to Cuba — zero!” and urged Cuban leaders to negotiate “before it is too late.”

Context of Trump’s statements

The president’s remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region following US actions in Venezuela, including the recent removal of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro in a military operation. Trump referenced Cuba’s historical dependence on Venezuelan oil and money and suggested that relationship was now ending.

Earlier on Sunday, Trump also reposted a message implying that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio could eventually lead Cuba, commenting “Sounds good to me!” on that post.
