ICO launches 90 Ramadan projects in Mauritania

Sharjah 24 – WAM: A delegation from the International Charity Organisation, led by Dr. Khaled Abdulwahab Al Khaja, Secretary-General of the organisation, is visiting Mauritania to inspect and implement 90 charitable projects aimed at supporting poor villages and the most vulnerable groups.

Ramadan-focused humanitarian projects

The initiatives include maintaining, furnishing and preparing mosques to استقبال worshippers during the Holy Month of Ramadan, alongside well-digging projects and iftar programmes for Muslim villages. The projects also cover the distribution of food parcels to families in need, as well as zakat, seasonal and development programmes that help improve living conditions and promote social stability in line with the humanitarian spirit of Ramadan.

Commitment to effective aid delivery

Dr. Al Khaja said the field visit comes as part of early preparations for Ramadan, emphasising the organisation’s commitment to ensuring assistance reaches deserving beneficiaries on time and with the highest level of efficiency. He noted that the projects reflect the values of giving, compassion and human solidarity associated with the holy month.

Strengthening partnerships and donor support

He added that the visit is part of a series of field tours across several African countries, underscoring the importance of direct presence and strong humanitarian partnerships to ensure sustainability and long-term impact. Dr. Al Khaja also praised the role of donors and urged continued support ahead of Ramadan, highlighting the positive impact such contributions have on improving the lives of thousands of families.
