The launch was marked by the club’s first live comedy evening, held at the Shams headquarters and featuring prominent Emirati comedians Ali Saleh (Bin Swelah), Ahmed Saif, and Mohammed Al Kindi. The performances were met with strong audience engagement, as the comedians delivered improvised routines addressing everyday social situations and community issues through purposeful humour that blended entertainment with awareness.
The initiative highlights the role of improvisational comedy as an effective medium for conveying positive values and encouraging constructive social behaviour in a light, accessible format. Shams noted that comedy performances can extend beyond theatres to schools, malls and public spaces, striking a balance between entertainment and meaningful messaging.
Maha Al Mansoor, Media Development Executive at Shams, said the club responds to growing youth interest in comedy and reflects Shams’ commitment to providing platforms that enable creators to experiment and grow in a professional, supportive environment. She added that comedy can serve as a powerful bridge to awareness and cultural expression.
The Shams Comedy Club is part of the city’s broader strategy to support the creative industries, empower young talent, and enrich local cultural content.
